Question 1

Do signatures on DOCUJET have legal value?

Accepted Answer

Yes. DOCUJET signatures are electronic signatures in line with the European eIDAS Regulation and admissible as evidence. Every document also receives a proof of integrity anchored on the blockchain, which can be verified independently. We are also moving towards the advanced electronic signature (AES).

Question 2

What does it mean for a document to be “anchored on the blockchain”?

Accepted Answer

Every signed document receives a qualified electronic seal and a qualified time stamp; we then calculate a digital fingerprint (SHA-256) of it, which we anchor permanently to the Bitcoin blockchain. From that moment on, anyone can prove, for ever, that the document existed in that exact form and has not been altered.

Question 3

How can I verify a signed document?

Accepted Answer

On the Verify page you drag in the PDF: the SHA-256 fingerprint is calculated in your browser, the file never leaves your device, and it is compared with the public anchors on Bitcoin. You get independent confirmation in a few seconds.

Question 4

What is the difference between simple, advanced and qualified signatures?

Accepted Answer

The eIDAS Regulation provides for three levels. The simple signature is the lightest; the advanced signature (AES) guarantees the signer’s identity and the integrity of the document; the qualified signature adds a certificate issued by a qualified provider. Today DOCUJET offers an electronic signature in line with eIDAS, with the aim of moving towards the advanced signature (AES).

Question 5

Are my documents safe?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Documents are encrypted in transit and at rest, every action is recorded in a reconstructable audit trail, and integrity is anchored on the blockchain. Public verification exposes only a fingerprint, never the content of the file.

Question 6

What happens if DOCUJET no longer exists one day?

Accepted Answer

The proof of integrity lives on the Bitcoin blockchain, not on our servers. Anyone will still be able to verify independently that a document signed with DOCUJET is authentic and has not been modified, even without us.

Question 7

Do I need to install software or create an account to sign?

Accepted Answer

No. DOCUJET works entirely in the browser, on desktop and on mobile. Anyone who receives a document to sign can do so without installing anything; to send documents for signature, a free account is enough.

Question 8

Which document formats do you support?

Accepted Answer

The signing format is PDF, the de facto standard for legal documents. You can upload an existing PDF or start from a reusable template.
